Custom version a must
I wanted the Crosman 2240 because of the cult following it has; blog accounts and YouTube clips are endless. ... While looking at the 2240 on the Crosman web site I noticed the custom shop icon, and before I knew it I had a custom carbine ordered. For the price of a few after-market parts I had a 2240 with a 14" barrel, faux carbon fiber shoulder stock, steel receiver, custom trigger assembly and a machined aluminum muzzle brake. The gun arrived in a foam-lined double-walled shipping box with a signed letter from the shop. I installed a red dot scope and put the gun and shooting supplies in a tactical padded case. The carbine rig weighs next to nothing and shoots very well. The trigger is excellent, there is no recoil and the gun is quick to get on target. So, do yourself a favor and go straight to the custom shop area on Crosman's web site before buying a standard issue at a store. Also, be sure to stock up on the 40-count boxes of co2. You'll need them.
I purchased 2240 on a whim. I liked it so much bought a custom with long steel breech, 14 inch barrel and Williams notched sights. The quality is insane for the price. Go custom and have it put together for you, why bother a with after market parts when you can have them do all the work for a reasonable price. Will buy another custom for my 16 yr old daughter soon

I have just bought this gun on the advice of the sales man in my local gun shop in Swansea Wales UK.
What a gun, i only wanted it for fun shooting, as i have an Axsor Gemini air rifle which i us for target shooting, and small game.
The crosman is more than a fun gun it is a very serious gun for the money, glad i listened to the advice i was given. Only thing is now i want to customise it after looking on the crosman site.
alright airgun but................
By brendan coaster
yeah this gun is good i have killed pest with it and i went small game hunting animals like rabbits and ruffed grouse with the gun but the gun has a problem when you want the c02 to be empty be shooting alot of pellets it takes long for it to happen but when you do try to tale the C02 out it will freeze the rubber on the c02 pierce causeing it to leak out C02 then it not useable thats my pronlem with this airgun but overall great gun!....
This is one awesome pistol. I can't wait each day to set up targets and shoot.
Great great gun!
I first found out about this gun from You Tube and after watching countless videos about it , I figured I would try and get one. Well I found a few places here in Ontario Canada that sold them. I purchased a brand new stock 2240 and a few upgrades. Out of the package I couldn't believe the quality if this air pistol! It felt like a real handgun!!! I shot the 2240 stock for about a day and put about 150 pellets through it. This has to be the most accurate pellet pistol I have ever fired! Everything that has been said in reviews and videos about this gun are true! Not only is it one of the most customizable air pistols on the planet, but it is cheap too! I paid 58.99 Canadian for it. I bought the steel breech kit a 14 inch barrel, and an extended probe and handle bolt for it.I then purchased a Crosman reflex red dot sight for it (junk by the way) . My video here is the finished result of me removing the bluing and after all the parts have been installed with exception of the red dot and extended bolt. Those came about 3 weeks after. Great gun for the money. If I had and discrepancy about it , it would be that it eats C02 like nothing. On a good day I can maybe squeeze 45 shots out of a C02 powerlet.
Impressive - VERY accurate, ... really enjoy shooting this pistol.
2240 you won't be sorry

This is a amazing gun. It looks a little funny because of the long barrel. Makes other Co2 guns look pathetic. I recommend it to anyone. I do wish it was less $$$$$ though.
its a grea buy
I got my 2240. first thing was to swab the barrel. it was realy clean too. I put a drop of pellgun oil on the power jet and shot it. took about 3 times to get the sights set my way. I was very suprized at the power and accuracy from a pistol priced under $100. its got a decent trigger . it fits my hand well too. if your looking for a quality low priced co2 powered pistol, this is it . ive shot about 300 pellets so far aand its doing just fine in all ways . im getting about 30 shots out of a power jet . it does well shooting crosman premier hollow points.
Buy this gun now
I got this gun on my 11th birthday and I can tell you that it has been a real adventure. 9 years later it has gone thru a few changes. First I just left it stock and practiced shooting and taking out a few squirrels. Then I got the steel breech and 14" barrel. Power went up considerably, but I wanted more. So I bored out the valve and did a few other things for power, but then it was thirsty for co2. Got a stock for it and made a silencer. It still eats co2 cartridges, but is literally silent. The neighbors don't have clue why the local squirrel population has dropped so much. I have future plans to make a folding stock, a better silencer, and buy a better scope. And I am thinking about getting one of those powermax hipac units too (for cold weather shooting, co2 doesn't work in winter). So would I recommend this gun? Absolutely!
nice for price
I bought another brand of co2 pistol to use to exterminate pidgons at 20' . it lasted a whole 50 shots so I read reviews on the 2240. I decided to give it a try. I was very suprized at the power and accuracy. I cleaned the barrel and put in a co2 cartridge and then shot a 1x4 . it put the pellet in the wood a little deeper than flush at 20'.only thing I don't like is use of plastic but for the price its a fine shooting gun. it fits my hand great too. I shot about 100 cphp's through it to get used to it. I shot several quarter sized groups at 30 ' and they got tighter as it was breakin in and I got more used to it. if your looking for a nice low priced pistol id say this is it
I waited for a week and when it came I found out it leaked co2 now it's out of the warranty period and I want to fix it but I don't know how much it will cost I tried to contact crosman about it but there contact thing is messed up for me every time I try I enter all the info and hit send and Nothing happens !
I admit I probably got the one in a hundred that is faulty but it was a big disappointment :(
powerful and accurate
I have pierced through 1 gallon paint cans at 5 yards and 2 lb metal coffee cans at 10 yards and soup cans at 15 yards ,both sides straight through all previously listed cans. I can hit the end ( 8 inch diameter at 40 yards )
I have shot through 5/8 spruce boards from 15 feet .
I have shot through the end of metal coffee cans 1 inch red bullseye at 55 feet.
40 shos per co2 cartridge .
very powerful at 80 F.
Right out of the package it is said to shoot at 465Fps tried it it's pretty much around those numbers till you get to like the precision and the fun of shooting it then you start modding it. I suggest the simplest one a longer barrel, that alone will send it over the 500 Fps mark i suggest between the 14 and 18 inch add a stock to that and oh! boy you will never want to put that down just added a Leapers bug buster sight to mine inexpensive little scope but i can punch out the bulls eye out of a 5X5 target at 20 meters make smily faces etc lol i recommend this gun to anyone wanting to start air gun shooting you'll be hooked : )
Wow! from a 54 year old kid.
By Mike T
I had no idea what the 2240 pistol was capable of. I should have gotten one long ago. It is loud and I love it. It shot 30+ pellets, hard and consistent. I was wary of buying anything "CO2", because of performance concerns. Crosman has done an excellent job with this pistol. I have break barrels and pumps, pistols and rifles. My wife likes to shoot these but can't cock them. She will love this. I'll probably get another. Can't go wrong with this pistol. If you get one, don't forget the Pellgun Oil. Happy Shooting.
Real nice handgun
Great power, great accuracy, nice feel, would recommend to anyone.
First you'll wanna...
take the right grip off and remove the trigger sear. Then get some fine sandpaper and metal polish and make that thing gleaming slick on all surfaces. Take the sear spring out and cut a turn or two off the spring. Put back together, you can add a spring guide later. Next take the hammer out and polish the daylights out of it and lube and reinsert. It's a fairly simple procedure easily found on YouTube. There, with just a little time invested and no real parts to purchase your 2240 will shoot a LOT better. The difference is stark. I was thoroughly having a blast with my 2240 but after I learned how to disassemble, clean, polish and lubricate it I don't wanna put it down. NOTE FROM CROSMAN: THIS WILL VOID WARRANTY.
customizable in every way(even with no money)
The awesome 2240 will have you wanting the weekend to arrive. Its that much fun on top that you can customize this little beauty to you're taste, even with no money. She has so much potential(not that it doesn't come out the clam shell package allready with potential) to be better than most of the expensive pellet guns on the market today and looks good doing it. There are endless customer parts that you can get to bring up the fun(POWER) and not brake you're piggy bank. So yeah, buy it. You won't regret it.
2240 Black Superbeast
Finally obtained the black beasty!.22 goodnes should be a trusty side arm on many future excursions...looking to get the steel breech kit soon and a black metal barrel band and tip to make it a silohette gun.
Would take this gun to mars and beyond...totally alien adventure worthy.
peace out all humanz.
Great looking and a reliable air pistol. Accurate to 10 meters although I did bowl a rabbit at 18meter with a support!
Powerful enough for small pests but needs a silencer for use around the yard. Highly recommended. It is a "fun gun"
great gun for price, very acurate, love how you can customize it.
This one's a "gotta have"
This gun is so enjoyable to shoot because it always works and always hits what you point it at. It has the same size and feel of a Ruger Mark 2. I have some other Co2 pistols which are semi auto, including a blowback, that are notoriously inaccurate and tend to be 'jam-o-matics'. The 2240 is a simple reliable bolt action that always works and never misses the target as long as you do your part. I like the fact that the gun will stop firing when CO2 pressure gets too low to fire safely which prevents a pellet from jamming in the barrel. Another good thing about this gun is that it is a .22. The .22 caliber pellets are easier to handle and hit harder than .177 pellets. The 2240 is very customizable with lots of aftermarket parts available.
2240 is a great pistol
I have had this pistol for over 2 years now and it is my favorite pellet pistol. I have 8 other pistols, from Daisy 200, Crossman 454, Crossman130 etc. This one is the best . It has a lot of upgrade options. My only complaint is the receiver is plastic and doesn't really have a viable method of mounting a better sight. I finally got around to ordering the steel breech which will allow me to mount a number of different sights. Out of the box it is a great gun. Oh yeah, never leave a partially expended cartridge in it for a long period of time. I made that mistake once. The cartridge will stick and the gun will have to be partially disassembled to remove it. Crossman warms the owner about this in the instructions.
crosman 2240 Pistol
Great gun very well made could have made it all metal would of been much better but still a good buy
This pistol is the bomb! I bought this gun and ordered the steel breech and waited to shoot it til I got the breech! This gun packs a punch and is dead on accurate!
I have gotten 40 dead on shot out of one CO2 canister! The only problem I have is buying enough CO2 and ammo for it!
Good plinker, for an inexpensive piece. - followup
Crosman told me they would honor their warranty re: many shots to pierce, even though I had worked on the trigger.
I'd originally bought the thing from Amazon, who replaced it next day red label.
Major kudo's to both Crosman and Amazon.
The replacement works as advertised out of the blister pack, which is still the worst feature.
2240 co2 Pistol (.22)
The most outstanding SINGLE shot pistol I've owned (I once had a 8 shot co2 .22 cal "44 Magnum" in the late 70s-80s that shot at 500 FPS). I would like to get either aluminum or steel Breech for it but I can't find any although I tried many websites (I wouldn't know how to install it any how). I would also like BROWN GRIPS (Plastic or wood) but no luck there either. Anyway, it's a GREAT Gun as is and only needs a CUSTOM made Holster it can fit properly in.
Great gun for anytime shooting
this is a great gun for anybody, anyage to have... if you dont like stock parts, it is one of the best guns for buying cusomized parts for. also powerfull enough to kill any samll varmet, cant kill a coyote or bigger, but anything under that, consider it dead when you got this airgun in your hand... i highly recommend it.
Good plinker, for an inexpensive piece.
There's good, and bad.
The *worst* thing about the piece was getting it out of the plastic packaging ! Be careful, it will cut you !
As delivered, trigger was terrible. Rough, creepy, and hard. A little work, and it's more than good now.
( how-to easily found on internet. Spring and polish )
Advertised 460 FPS but I'm getting 360 with Crosman Premier Ultra Magnums on a 75F degree spring day.
Hit's hard, though. Won't punch though 1/2 inch plywood, but it will through 1/4 ply !
Last powerlet took 46 shots to pierce the cap, and get any CO2, but internet search says Crosman
had a bad run on powerlets, so I'm not blaming the gun, yet. First one took 6 shots. ( same batch )
Accuracy, the gun is more accurate than I am ! ( old eyes )
Seen criticism of the plastic breech, but I find it excellent ! I'll probably never bother with the steel breech option.
It's not a $1000 match grade target pistol, but it's well worth the selling price.
I would buy another, and probably will.
I would also recommend you can buy this model with confidence.
This is an amazing gun with huge accuracy. You can modify it to the point of pure power. Mine shoots about 850 fps once I easily modified it. Brilliant piece of engineering!!!
Crosman 2240 Rat Buster
This is a great bit of kit for the price. Accurate, powerful and easy to shoot. I've added a silencer, (stops the neighbours getting too nosey), and a red dot sight, (for really quick target acquisition), which really enhance the shooting experience. The trigger is not the smoothest, but it does the job OK.
Excellent for tackling small, close range vermin, ( such as rats, squirrels and pigeons), which are despatched cleanly at 10 meters.
Great as a 'trainer' as it's easy to load, (no heavy cocking) and not too heavy to hold.
Accurate enough for target work so long as you don't push the range too much.
Approx' 60 shots per Co2 capsule.
I would definately recommend this pistol for the above useage.
i have had this model since it first came out, found it to be very accurate and durable. would recommend it to anyone weather a novice shooter or experenced.
Great gun rite out of the package
By BIG MAC
I bought this gun after reading all the great reviews, and they were rite! This gun is very powerful ! I wish the rear sites were a bit better and am looking into changing them but other than that a great gun to have and fun to shoot..
2240 excellent piece
By mad scientist
excellent shooter! i have had this since it first came out and it is still working great. very accurate and reilable. a true workhorse. however i didn't know that they were modifiable. going to try the steel breach. an over all excellent airgun that i would recomment to anyone. i hope that the parts will continue to be available for these.
anyone considering a new pellet gun, this is it. there are no problems. 460 fps and a sleek design that you can modify the crap out of, make this an ideal gun. Comes with plastic hand grips and everything else is metal. Has a timeless design and beautiful accuracy. Once again, all around amazing gun for beginners and experienced sharp shooters alike.
By KURT B
THE QUICK AND SHORT OF IT IS THIS. THIS PISTOL IS A POWERFUL WORK HORSE . IT'S QUITE ACCURATE AS WELL .22 CAL PISTOLS OFTEN HAVE A REPUTATION FOR NOT HITTING THEIR MARK ! I'M HERE TO TELL YOU THIS ONE DOES. YOU WILL GET PLENTY OF SHOTS OUT OF A SINGLE C02 CARTRIDGE AS WELL. LOTS OF BANG FOR THE BUCK AND YOU CAN'T GO WRONG.
This is a great gun. I have this model but I got my pistol modified through crosman!'s custom shop. I could not be more happier except for the length of time it took for me to receive my order. Too long!!!
I have had this gun for quite a while and it's a great shooter. I plan on doing some mods on to make it an even better shooter. I would recommend this gun for anyone who wants a potent , easy to use gun.
By Derek Moritz
INCREDIBLE GUN!! Eccellent weight, When I got it I shot an Obi-Wan figurine to smitherssess.... he dead. the only thing I would complain about is the grips, They are tough, but sound more hollower than an easter egg! GET THIS GUN!! IT HAS LOTS OF POTENTIAL!!
This gun is literally a blast to shoot.
Nice gun for every recreative shooter
This is a cheap, but very easy to use pistol. But, the steel breech is a must have for this gun to make it more reliable, and accurate. Also, it has endless modding combinations, witch result in performance, and looks.
