I found the rifle to be all it claimed to be and it served me well for about one year, but then it failed, has a broken spring or something, would like to repair if possible.

i have had this gun for about 3 years and it is great. i have taken down problem woodchucks on more then one occasion. The gun gets the job done with ease, you just have to be a good shooter and place your shots well. it is an amazing gun for the money and is great for anyone, from people just starting out and people who have been shooting for years.

    Father and Son disappointed

    By Gene

    2011-11-30 00:54:18
We bought the Quest 1000 for our 16 year old son last December. It has plenty of power and never fails to shoot. The barrel does not align with the receiver, making the scope useless. The barrel does not come up far enough, and the scope will not adjust down enough. Now a year later after little use, the stock has split. We are very disappointed in the quality control and the durability of the product.

Best Air rifle I have owned. I take squirrels at 20yds no prob. Plenty of power using regular lead ammo. Excellent accuracy. It took a little getting used to shooting a spring gun vs a pump gun. I have had absolutely no problems with it. I keep it clean and oiled with Airgun oil, and it functions flawlessly. It is loud since the pellets are supersonic. I put a scope on it but quickly took it off since it was more accurate with open sights. Nice to have high power with one pump.

    Crossman Quest 1000

    By PinkFloyd

    2012-01-29 18:39:00

Fantastic. This was my first, of probably many, of an decent airgun. I was totally blow away by the power of this rifle. Solid wood stock was one thing I always want and loved the wood. Works as described and IS loud for the first 100 or so pellets sent downrange. After that it's not so bad at all and I have setup a THICK backstop in the back-yard of a suburban home are without any complaints so far. After sighting it in I am consistently hitting the middle red SPLAT targets at about 60'. Will have to take it to the woods for some longer distance test. I will be refinishing the stock as I prefer a dark wood stock. Rather that ruin the existing stock I purchased a new stock from Crossman for about $30 delivered which I will refinish using the common gunstock refinish kit.

    Crosman Quest 1000

    By Anonymous

    2012-03-17 10:24:51
I just purchased the Crosman Quest 1000 and it is the second spring piston air rifle that I have owned. The first spring piston air rifle I had was a RWS Diana model in the 1980's and I also own many pnuematic air rifles, predominantly original Sheridan Blue Streaks. I also have experience with the RWS M34.
First impressions of this Chinese made gun with roughly 300 rounds fired are that this Crosman Quest air rifle was about as loud as a .22 long rifle rimfire for the first four shots and is now at the level of a .22 CB round, fairly quiet but louder than a typical pnuematic air rifle. The loud shots are probably due to oil being present in the compression chamber. This air rifle is reasonably easy to cock for an adult and you can shoot for extended periods in confort. The gun has a plain wooden stock, plastic end cap on the compression chamber, plastic trigger guard, plastic trigger, and plastic sights. The rest of the gun is carbon steel with a nice blue finish and is of substatial better build quality than the current typical cheap American pnuematic air rifles predominately made of plastic. The Crosman Quest has the feel of a full sized rifle that weighs about 6.5 pounds.
The Crosman Quest air rifle has what seems to be about average recoil and vibration for a spring piston air rifle of this power level, but does take some getting used to after shooting pnuematic air rifles for a while. Keep in mind the pnuematic air rifles have absolutely no recoil or vibration. The trigger is two stage with a lot of over travel and is difficult to predict when it will break to fire. The plastic sights have Tru-Glo inserts and perform the job but are cheap and the front post is wide contributing to aiming error at longer distances. I have not chronographed the velocity yet but the 7.0-7.9 grain pellets that have been tested for accuracy appear to arrive at the target quickly out to sixty yards and hit hard for a .177 caliber air rifle. Open sight accuracy has been tested from a sandbagged rest using the "artillary hold" and the best five shot group to date at thirty feet has been 1.75 inches. Every other method of holding the gun has been attempted and the accuracy at this distance (10 yard) averages around 2 inches. At longer distances it is very difficult to consistantly maintain a group under 2.5 inches and at this time for me firing free hand beyond twenty five yards require a fair amount of luck to hit a target the size of a soda can. This air rifles seems to be very very sensitive to the way it is held and consistancy must be maintained in order to achieve even mediocre accuracy at close range. Keep in mind this may due to my shooting ability with a powerful spring piston air rifle since their firing mechanics are quite different than all other guns. Note however I do achieve very good accuracy and hitting consistancy in the field firing the air rifles I mentioned in the beginning of the review. Other contributing factors to the poor accuracy are definately the poor trigger pull and the poor sight picture, potential barrel alignment or lockup, as well as the rifle may need more rounds to "break in". I plan on continuing to work with this air rifle in the hopes that the accuracy will become better the more I shoot it.
Overall this gun can be a good value for an entry spring piston air rifle if you can achieve accuracy. Use and time will define its durablility.
I am rating this air rifle as "average" at this time but would down-grade it to "below average" if accuracy does not improve as I gain more experience with the gun. At the present time I cannot recommend this gun to a friend. It should not take this long for an experienced shooter to achieve reasonable accuracy at such close range.

I owned and used this Air Rifle for apx. 3-4 years straight, It has adequate power (to be used exactly what is specified; Pest and Target Shooting). I fired this thing until one faithful day the spring cracked; Please note this was 3-4years after purchase of brand new. Up until that point it was accurate but there was the problem of the Barrel not lining up with the Breach. Thats the only complaint, I would label this as a fine rile for A first time shooter.

    Crosman quest 1000x

    By outdoorsman

    2012-04-15 13:32:51
The Crosman quest 1000x is a really nice gun. It is really easy to hold steady for long shots, thanks to the weight. It took a bit of patience to sight in the open sights, but she shoots right on now. This thing is powerful! went all the way through a 1 1/2 inch think sappling with a huge exit hole with crosman hollow point pellets. That is some major damage. REcently notched my first kill with this gun, an ole varmint that now has its hide hanging on my wall. It is not really quiet, almost as loud as a .22lr even after i have probably at least 100shots through her. So if you're looking for a gun to put small game on the ground and quit messin' around, id get this gun, it wont let you down.

Like another reviewer - took the scope off after being super frustrated. I've shot many different types of guns - bb/pellet/power and am a very good shot. This gun stinks. Spend more $ and get a better gun. -JK
