Benjamin 397 (.177) is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bad To The Bone !!! A buddy of mine has a 397 and I was in the market for an air rifle and he couldn't say enough good things about this gun.So I purchased one a few weeks ago and I am totally satisfied with the gun finish and its performance. It weighs 5.5 pounds and is well balanced has a rifled brass barrel - bolt action two stage trigger pull at 5.5 lbs very smooth action on mine I was amazed. As far as accuracy I set up targets at 25 yds and after 40 to 50 shots adjusting the fully adjustable rear sight i was shooting in quarter groups. My modification to the front sight got me shooting out a dime group, what i did was use white nail polish on the tip of the front sight as that helped 60%more. Im 62 years of age so my eyes need all the help I can get --- lol. So this last week I put my 3x9 fullfield scope on it and now putting pellet threw pellet hole. Im tuning it up for this winters small game hunting and it is ready. I recommend the Crosman Premiere 7.9 Hollow points they shoot awesome out of this rifle.I forgot to tell you this is a max. 8 pump rifle and ive not yet pumped it over 3 pumps for shot !!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Gun I bought this gun for simple plinking around the house, as I cannot do that with real gunpowder firearms. It is a great rifle, great finish and nice materials. It is accurate out of the box. The only thing I did not like was that it has two holes on the right hand side of the foregrip, presumably to mount the pumping lever to the for grip. I thought this was a bit of a cheap design, however, it does not affect the use of the gun. It's just an eye sore for me. I can overlook it. Overall, I would definitely recommend this rifle.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from poor all around. I purchased this rifle on a Saturday afternoon. By Sunday afternoon I was so frustrated by this cheap piece of garbage I had decided that I am done all together with airguns. Especially anything from Crosman. The rifle came with all the screws loose, the front sight is canted to the left, some minor cosmetic dings from poor packaging from the factory, and I had to scrub the black finish that covers the outside of this piece of trash from the crown and the bore. I was getting 2 inch groups at 20 yards and that was with crosman pellets. All of this could be forgiven if the rifle could hold a zero but it cannot. The design of the rear sight allows anything to bump it and change your point of impact 4 inches at 20 yards. No wonder this thing shot so poorly. I could put a scope on it or a peep sight but I am done spending money trying to get these pieces of garbage to shoot. I could have purchased a decent 22 for what I paid for this thing. It would seem that every corner is cut to maximize profit and I have had my fill. They took something that was good and ruined it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not so good So many things. Poor finish non matching wood. Chips and dents. Rear sights came twisted. Stock was loose. Oh boy!!! There is more but I took it back. We went through of them of them and no help.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Old reliable! I have one of these for so many years I can't remember when I got the first one. I a new modle now and it is as good as the first one. I will shot one hole groups out to 25+yds and I have taken Rabbits out 65yrd. I don't mean the tiny bunnies, I mean the big east Colorado Jacks. One shot one Jack. Here is a pix of the target when I was siting in. 5 shot group with Crossman .177 Cal Destoyers pellets. I just hope my new Benjamin Armada works 1/2 as well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Non-Functional after 10 rounds Just purchased this gun one week ago. I only shot it 10 times and it no longer is functioning. While pumping, air escapes through the barrel and there is no air pressure to fire the pellet. My original Benjamin Sheridan from 15 years ago is still in perfect working order. Very disappointed.
