Crosman Partners With Rusty Baker Outdoors To Support Troops

Prostaffers Chip Hunnicutt and Mark DeBoard traveled to the Herradura Ranch near Cotulla, Texas in November with a CenterPoint Teton and a few Benjamin airguns. Crosman and CenterPoint Hunting & Outdoors sponsored the Rusty Baker-Josh Beckett Celebrity Hunt for Charity which was taped for Rusty Baker Outdoors and will kick off their 2011 season on the Pursuit Channel.

The event featured an airgun competition where celebrities competed with both the Benjamin Marauder PCP Pistol and Marauder .177 rifle.  Shooters had five shots at a 20-yard field target silhouette with the pistol and a 40 yard target with the rifle.  The eventual winner, country music singer Kevin Fowler, took home a new Benjamin Trail NP XL 725 and enough ammunition to keep him busy while he’s on the road touring.

“Josh and I started this event three years ago to benefit wounded heroes through the Show of Support military foundation,” said Baker.  The event has continued to grow and Crosman was invited to participate after Rusty and Robert Eddleman, Operations Manager for Rusty Baker Outdoors, visited the corporate campus and manufacturing facility last summer.  ”Crosman added a unique element to the event by showcasing the celebrities collectively in a friendly competition,” said Crosman Web and Social Marketing Manager Chip Hunnicutt.  ”Everyone was pretty intrigued with the CenterPoint Teton crossbows and anxious to see if we were able to score on a doe during the hunt.  Fortunately we did not disappoint.”

Ultimately the Crosman team did not get an opportunity on a hog or coyote with the Benjamin Marauder but the reaction to the adult airguns over the weekend was palpable.  ”The airgun competition got pretty serious there at the end.  Fowler had another commitment but wasn’t going anywhere as the contest went into four ‘overtimes’ until he finally emerged on top with a nice shot from the Marauder,” said Hunnicutt.
