Shot Show ’09 Report: Day 1

Well the first day of the show is behind us and it certainly was a great day. It started early yesterday morning when our friends at Pyramyd Air restarted the traditional Airgun Breakfast. It is an opportunity for all those who shoot and love airguns to get together and take stock in the industry. It was a great event that ended with the surprise announcement of a new airgun themed TV show called American Airgunner. The footage we saw of the show looks really exciting. After that we made our way over to the Crosman booth to prep and get ready. Once the doors opened we were busy all day. The big excitement at the booth was hands down the Benjamin PCP Marauder. I am sure many of you have heard about this gun. If not be sure to check out the Shot Show section of our site.

The Marauder is the next evolution of the Discovery. We listened to our fans and designed what is easily the best looking, best quality airgun that has ever come from the company. There is a shrouded ultra-quiet barrel, a match grade adjustable trigger, a beautiful stock and velocities that are going to make this a great hunting gun. The response from the people coming in the booth was overwhelming. There was a lot of praise and positive feedback.

About half-way through the morning we had a surprise visit from the President and the almost VP Sarah Palin… Well ok, not really. But this guy did one of the best impressions I have seen. It was fantastic. He was so convincing that a lot of people were stopping and getting pictures.  It was a lot of fun. They took up arms for a couple of photos.

The Marauder was not the only gun we released at the show, we have our new PCP Challenger which is generating it’s own excitement and promises to be another airgun milestone this year. It takes everything that is great about the Discovery, the adjustable match grade trigger from the Marauder and combines them with the classic Challenger stock and a floating Lothar Walther barrel. This is something we will be talking more about on the blog very soon.

It was a great first day of the show, exhausting but well worth it. Come back tomorrow for more on the Challenger and some of our other new products.

Thanks for reading.

If the Challenger shoots better then the Discovery, it will have to drive tacks at 25 yards. I have also ordered the Marauder from Air Gun Depot, they will ship it as soon as they get it in. I have the 17 caliber Discovery and am getting the 22 Marauder, now if you’ll kindly make the Challenger in a 25 caliber I might just take one of them off your hands.
