Crosman SSP HV .177 pellets

By Bob

2014-04-20 22:59:34
I bought a package of these to use at an indoor range that requires lead free ammo, and they do no work well in my Vigilante, Only 6 out of 36 actually fired down the range. I know it is the pellets and not the gun, as the regular pellets I bought with the gun work fine at home. I will probably try a different Crosman LF ammo with the vigilante to see if the performance is any better.

Not Really For Rifles

By Airgunsworld.com

I kinda like these pellets, there cool to shoot supersonic and get that crack like a .22 short does in a rifle. But they are not very accurate in a rifle.
BUT, in a CO2 pistol, these are VERY NICE! Your little pistols will go from say 400 fps to over 500 fps! Everyone knows past 40-50 feet
CO2 pistols are kinda useless unless you have a Marauder or something like that. These little lead free pellets will penetrate any flesh you shoot it at with 40 feet.
Not as much knock down power as lead but the higher fps makes up the difference in a pistol. Just don't use them in a rifle very much, maybe just for kicks. See these pellets being used in my review of the Beretta PX4 Storm. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6KyOW6WjRg

Not Worth the Money, Novelty Item at Best

By Greg

I am very disappointed and am left wondering why Crosman would field a product as poor as this and then market it with a straight face saying it is meant for hunting. The only hunting you will do with this is to try to find where it went when you shoot it at your target. I finally resorted to a 3" x 3" board covered in white paper @ 50 feet to mark my shots. A full half failed to contact the board and sailed past it. That is amazing considering I was shooting from a rifle sled.

No two shots were close together, everything was variable. I could even watch the silver pellet fly a cork-screw flight path on the way to where ever.

The only positive I can think of is with the extra velocity, the pellet will crack the sound barrier and "crack" like a .22LR. That is kind of cool for kids. But there is no accuracy or penetration power to these.

Bad pellet

By Mike88

2013-04-02 02:14:12
These pellets are horrible for a high powered gun they make a very loud bang when hitting sub sonic speed but they are not accurate and won't shoot through a big truck mud flap at 10 yards ,,,, they are a waste of money if u have a gun that shoots over 700fps they don't even mushroom when they impact I was very disappointed in this design I only shot about 15 of then and then gave the rest to my nephew for his pump up rifle

These are good in my 880s. But, the winchester 1000sb and crosman fury hate them. They, sound good coming out but fly off target by 3 to 4" inches at 25 yards.
that's supersonic wave do.

Don't Know What To Say

By Anonymous

This pellet really is a poor performer. It's lack of mass means it needs high velocity to establish any positive ballistics. Unfortunately at high velocities it "meanders". Honestly I chalked it up to shooter error at first. By the time I went through an entire case of them, and still hadn't "gotten the hang of it" I had to doubt the projectile. I can do very good groups with premier domes, jsb's, and others. This pellet is just a poor product. Don't spend your money on it, you'll be disappointed.

Pellet Performance

By Ole Mtn Goat

2012-03-23 23:07:33
I shoot primarily from a shooting rest at targets set-up at 25yds. I have no problems holding 10 shot groups at 1.25" or so. There are unexplained flyers...However, more expensive pellets perform no better in this regard. Pellets and pellet weapons are similar to centerfire weapons in that one brand or weight projectile may out perform all others. My gun and I are pleased with the performance of these pellets.

Do not buy this product it is totally garbage. The accuracy is way of and u can see it curve. Also it is so weightless that when it actually impacts your target animal, such as a squirrel or a bird in my case, it will ricochet off the animals skin or feathers. DO NOT GET THIS ITS A WASTE oF GOOD MONEY. If u want a good reliable pellet, chose a premium hollow point. thanks.

DONT buy the hig velocity flat pellets

By GotREPO

2011-08-12 08:01:50
These High Velocity pellets are not worth buying. They absolutely fired out of the barrel faster, but the accuracy is horrible. I can actually see the bullet trajectory curve way left or right. At first I thought it was my scope, or user error. So I tried my pointed pellets (also made by Crosman) and my site was right on. I am sticking to destroyer pellets or pointed pellets. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT, unless you enjoy being frustrated when your target runs off on you.
