A work of art is what this is!! Simple to install. It shoud come as standard on the 13XX and not as an accessory. Made mounting a scope a breeze , more accurate. The packaging sucks but the breech same in undamaged. Over all the best MOD. for the BUCK

This breech installed in 5 minutes with no problems. Replacing the cheap plastic parts with a long, solid steel breech made my 1377 feel like a real pistol. The LPA mim sight I bought with this breech installed in a snap and the gun is significantly more accurate after sighting in. I can't wait to put a red dot sight on the 1377. This is a must have product for any 1377 owner. 5 stars.

This is definitely a must have for your 1377! would make it look a lot better and will definitely make your gun feel solid and more accurate. For the price, it's not bad, but would definitely appreciate additional bubble wrap on packaging to avoid damage.

The Crosman steel breach kit is well made and easy to install. Being able to add different sights to your 1377 makes it more pleasurable to shoot. My eyes are not what they used to be and adding a red dot sight improved my accuracy. Crosman should add this as an option when buying the gun as the cost of buying it as an accessory is half the price of the 1377. I agree that the packaging is poor, luckily mine arrived in good shape. Buy this, you will be happy you did.

This is an update of my 03/06/2012 review. Today I received a replacement breech kit (3-day delivery and free of charge). Crosman’s Customer Service is simply outstanding! The packaging question remains however (kits are still packaged in flimsy bubble mailers), so buyers should be alert for potential shipping damage. My package appeared to have gone through a war, but somehow the breech manged to survive unharmed. No cosmetic issues this time either. Installation took just 15 minutes - once I sorted out what appears to be an earlier version of the instructions – and the results look terrific! Buy this kit. If it gets to you undamaged, you won't be disappointed.

Received the kit this afternoon. It was packaged only in a bubble-cushioned brown envelope (bad idea) which looked as if it had been "roughed up" in transit from NY to PA. Crosman's carrier tossed the envelope on my concrete porch (I could hear the "clink" from inside my home), causing a noticeable "ding" on a rear edge. Upon further inspection, there are numerous tiny pit marks on the external sides of the breech (not a good thing if you want to make a "presentation-grade" air gun). It's evident that the part was not adequately polished at the factory before bluing. I called Crosman Customer Service. They were very helpful and apologetic, and indicated that a replacement kit would be sent to me as soon as possible. Great service! But I sure hope it's packaged better. I will update this review when I receive the new breech and install it.

A must have for 1377 American Classic

If you want to put a scope on rock solid and increase your accuracy you should consider this breech. I use my 1377 a lot, it's an easy mod and makes for a better feeling pistol. Adds weight and better accuracy. Wish it was standard on the 1377- don't know why this is even an option.

bolt issues...

I received the kit a few days ago. When I tried put it all together, I realized that the bolt was not threaded, which made it impossible to attach the bolt handle. Now the kit is just sitting there until I can get a new bolt shipped to me.

The plastic breech on the 1377 isn't bad but swapping it out for this puppy is worth $$ and 5-10 minutes it takes to do it- if for no other reason, it makes mounting stuff like a scope or laser sight a lot more accurate and reliable than the adapter thingys that clamp onto the barrel. My only gripe is that the instructions need to be updated in a couple places such as the reference to "barrel molding" which no longer appears to be included on the 1377 anymore.. Still giving it 5 stars because it's a nicely made piece that makes a great airgun even better.

The good:
Easy to install and seems to make the gun more accurate, probably because some of the barrel movement is eliminated.
Customer service at Crosman was very easy to work with. The steel breach make this a different and somewhat better gun, so I would not hesitate to recommend it.
The bad:
The original rear sight will not work with the new breach. That is something I was unprepared for. Even the long screw that is supplied is not long enough to attach the sight and even if it were, the whole sight would probably be far to high. I think for the price, it would be nice if a simple iron sight was included.
Instructions don't explain that the barrel must be fastened in a specific spot in order for the bolt to close correctly.
