Steel Breech Kit (.177 cal)
Was thinking of the 22xx not the 13xx when I was talking about going to the custom shop. There are no options for the 1377 in the custom shop unfortunately. Why they don't offer this option? (crickets).
To everyone that says these should be stock on the gun. Yes I agree. Wish it had wood grips and wood pump handle and 24k gold muzzle brake too.
My point being many of you are asking ALOT from a $50-60 pump pistol. You show your level of expertise in the world of airguns when you complain about what ISN't included in one. Especially in this price range. They already make a steel breech pump pistol… they are called benjamin. They should make them in a .177 but they don't because you guessed it, it would hurt sales of the top selling 1377 and pc 77 as well as the breech kit and 1399 stocks… Hopefully you now have a better understanding of some basic business/marketing fundamentals.
That being said Crosman is a competitive business with great customer service and they are supporting americans by employing them. I've never been dissatisfied with a crosman product or the service. Most of the negative reviews i've read are more likely to be caused by user error/ unrealistic expectations from beginners to the sport. I am not thirteen. This is not my first product review. This is not the only gun I own. This is not the only brand I own. I am not a rep from crosman just a big supporter. I've been around the block. Crosman is still my goto for affordable and fun airguns and accessories.
They may start making these with the steel breech again but the cost will reflect that. Which in turn will affect total sales of the most popular pump pistol ever. This is not a streak crosman ever wants to end. Keeping the price point down on the 13xx by using some plastic pieces without sacrificing too much if any power or durability is ok by me. If you like it that much and want to do more Add the stock for improved accuracy and it looks cool. Scope/optics? Get the steel breech. If price is a major concern then I don't think you are ready for airgunning. This is addictive and you unfortunately will have to spend money to get exactly what you want.
As expected. Perfect.
Looks great on my black 77 with the 99 stock and a leftover centerpoint 4x32 from a refurbished .22 titan bought in the outlet store.
Install takes five minutes. If its your first time doing this take it slow. Look at the parts and get a better understanding of what is going on in there. Will only help you down the road… This won't be your last airgun I promise you.
If you don't have a 13xx already just goto the custom shop and make one to your specs. It will be cheaper/expertly crafted. If you are just getting into this then it would be the way to go if you know exactly what you want. Cheaper and done professionally. If you want to learn the expensive/super fun way you can do it piece by piece on your own. You've been warned/encouraged. If you want the satisfaction of understanding how a basic pneumatic airgun operates then I say this is probably the best item to teach that. Young and old alike. Having a stock 13xx is like having a stock sports car. Nobody leaves it stock. In the words of tim the tool man taylor "It needs more power! (grunt x3)"
Best way to mount a scope
The steel breech kit is a must have for solid scope mounting. It is easy to install as long as you take care to keep the gas port bushing in place during assembly. The one I received was well made and well finished. The dovetail grooves are 3/8th inch and will accommodate rimfire scope mounts. You need an adapter rail to use Weaver style mounts. I wish Crosman would offer the steel breech as an option on the 1377 and 1322 to avoid having to order it separately and pay shipping twice.
Does not fit at all
Unbelievable: The breech will fit to the barrel, but cannot get bolt to engage. I am not happy with this product at all. Will end up putting on the plastic breech back on, and have no idea what to do with the steel parts. THIS IS THE BIGGEST WAIST OF MONEY EVER. My son and I were going to put this steel breech on the .177 together, what a joke. He thought it was his fault the bolt would not close. Very bad machining. DON'T BUY THIS!!!
Steel Breech Kit
Beautiful piece of work. Was amazed at how fast it went on. Thinking about getting anouther for my other pistol.
1377 steel breech
This is a MUST HAVE allowing you to mount a 3/8 sight of any kind and much better barrel support turning a great pistol into a very great pistol...
This should come on every 1377 and 1322 sold. Best thing I ever done for my 1377.
A WORK of ART
A work of art is what this is!! Simple to install. It shoud come as standard on the 13XX and not as an accessory. Made mounting a scope a breeze , more accurate. The packaging sucks but the breech same in undamaged. Over all the best MOD. for the BUCK
Excellent product, simple install
This breech installed in 5 minutes with no problems. Replacing the cheap plastic parts with a long, solid steel breech made my 1377 feel like a real pistol. The LPA mim sight I bought with this breech installed in a snap and the gun is significantly more accurate after sighting in. I can't wait to put a red dot sight on the 1377. This is a must have product for any 1377 owner. 5 stars.
.they will work on the older ones
By big g
it will work on the older 1377s but you still have to use the pull colck the bolt wont colck it.
Great Upgrade!! Must have!!
This is definitely a must have for your 1377! would make it look a lot better and will definitely make your gun feel solid and more accurate. For the price, it's not bad, but would definitely appreciate additional bubble wrap on packaging to avoid damage.
Great upgrade for 1377
By Phoenix Frank
The Crosman steel breach kit is well made and easy to install. Being able to add different sights to your 1377 makes it more pleasurable to shoot. My eyes are not what they used to be and adding a red dot sight improved my accuracy. Crosman should add this as an option when buying the gun as the cost of buying it as an accessory is half the price of the 1377. I agree that the packaging is poor, luckily mine arrived in good shape. Buy this, you will be happy you did.
Great Addition to 1377! Outstanding Service! Buy it!
This is an update of my 03/06/2012 review. Today I received a replacement breech kit (3-day delivery and free of charge). Crosman’s Customer Service is simply outstanding! The packaging question remains however (kits are still packaged in flimsy bubble mailers), so buyers should be alert for potential shipping damage. My package appeared to have gone through a war, but somehow the breech manged to survive unharmed. No cosmetic issues this time either. Installation took just 15 minutes - once I sorted out what appears to be an earlier version of the instructions – and the results look terrific! Buy this kit. If it gets to you undamaged, you won't be disappointed.
Poor packaging....average quality
Received the kit this afternoon. It was packaged only in a bubble-cushioned brown envelope (bad idea) which looked as if it had been "roughed up" in transit from NY to PA. Crosman's carrier tossed the envelope on my concrete porch (I could hear the "clink" from inside my home), causing a noticeable "ding" on a rear edge. Upon further inspection, there are numerous tiny pit marks on the external sides of the breech (not a good thing if you want to make a "presentation-grade" air gun). It's evident that the part was not adequately polished at the factory before bluing. I called Crosman Customer Service. They were very helpful and apologetic, and indicated that a replacement kit would be sent to me as soon as possible. Great service! But I sure hope it's packaged better. I will update this review when I receive the new breech and install it.
A must have for 1377 American Classic
If you want to put a scope on rock solid and increase your accuracy you should consider this breech. I use my 1377 a lot, it's an easy mod and makes for a better feeling pistol. Adds weight and better accuracy. Wish it was standard on the 1377- don't know why this is even an option.
I received the kit a few days ago. When I tried put it all together, I realized that the bolt was not threaded, which made it impossible to attach the bolt handle. Now the kit is just sitting there until I can get a new bolt shipped to me.
The plastic breech on the 1377 isn't bad but swapping it out for this puppy is worth $$ and 5-10 minutes it takes to do it- if for no other reason, it makes mounting stuff like a scope or laser sight a lot more accurate and reliable than the adapter thingys that clamp onto the barrel. My only gripe is that the instructions need to be updated in a couple places such as the reference to "barrel molding" which no longer appears to be included on the 1377 anymore.. Still giving it 5 stars because it's a nicely made piece that makes a great airgun even better.
come on CROSMAN
does crosman still make these, they're always out of stock..i wanna buy one..come on crosman dont you wanna make 30 buck
Steel Breach Kit
Easy to install and seems to make the gun more accurate, probably because some of the barrel movement is eliminated.
Customer service at Crosman was very easy to work with. The steel breach make this a different and somewhat better gun, so I would not hesitate to recommend it.
The original rear sight will not work with the new breach. That is something I was unprepared for. Even the long screw that is supplied is not long enough to attach the sight and even if it were, the whole sight would probably be far to high. I think for the price, it would be nice if a simple iron sight was included.
Instructions don't explain that the barrel must be fastened in a specific spot in order for the bolt to close correctly.
you gotta have this
