I bought this air rifle used for plinking while working in remote locations. It is very durable outlasting my colleagues air rifles and accurate enough for hitting cans on rails. Since that time my children have grown into it. It is an exceptional tool to teach gun safety and care to them and their friends. If I ever lost this air rifle for some reason I would definitely replace it with a current model.

I purchased the 760 rifle for my 6 1/2 year old son. I chose it over the Red Ryder with the intention of him "growing in" to it. I was a little apprehensive with the purchase, but once he began shooting with it I realized that I'd made a good choice. He understands that it is not a toy, and after some practice he has gotten very good at loading/pumping/shooting the rifle. Being a "big boy" rifle it also gave me a great opportunity to teach my son safe/proper gun handling. With proper supervision, I would absolutely recommend the 760 for even a young shooter.

I just bought a new Model 760. I have plenty of other Crosman airguns with rifled barrels already. I picked up one if these just to see how it shot. Of course, it's mostly plastic. If it had wood and more metal I'd have given it 5 stars. Mine works just as advertised. It's a shorter range airgun due to the smooth bore barrel. That's fine with me. I've been shooting the heck out of mine since I got it. All with pellets. I've been experimenting to see if I can reliably get the group size down to say, 1/2" at 7 yards. It's just about there. Best single group, was under 1/4", a 3 shot group. It won't do that every time, but it's getting closer. I put my BSA RD30 red dot sight on it, and it's a very nice combination. I want to be able to use this to shoot rats getting into our chicken coop at night, and will set up 7 yards from the feeder. This little airgun is fun to shoot, fast handling, and I like it a lot. The open sights won't adjust for windage, and my 760 shoots about an inch to the left. But my eyesight is so bad I can't do open sights. 5 stars for value. I am a big fan of multi pump air guns. You control the power and velocity by how many times you pump it. For targets, try 3 pumps. For small pest hunting, 6 should do fine at close range. Generally speaking, my 760 seems to do best with a wadcutter pellet, I think that's a good place to start the testing. It makes good power and is not very loud. For those that don't want a plastic airgun, check out 2100B Crosman. I have the Remington Airmaster 77, which is a 2199B with different cosmetics. The 2100 has a metal breech, but plastic stock. For an all wood and metal air rifle, there's the Benjamin 397 and 392. But, you can buy 5 or 6 760's for the price of one of these. My barrel on my 760 seems to get dirtier, and do it quicker, than my rifled models. Don't know why. And, this 760 is fine for an adult. I'm about 5' 19" and I like the size of this model. I got the one that doesn't come with a scope, as I don't care for the 4x15 scope. This gun is good with a red dot sight, or, I lime a 4x30 or 4x32 regular crosshair scope, which I have on my 1377 and 1322 Crosman carbines.
  5. I would not recommend it.

I purchased the gun for my grand son. We tried short range target practice...not good. 10 yards at a soda pop can...if you hit it, it's by accident. Bb's are all over the place.
