Mug Shot of James E House

For over 60 years, shooting sports have been part of the life of James E. House. Jim began with a single shot BB gun and progressed to a multi-pump Benjamin. Along the way he progressed to a .22 rimfire and competed on the ROTC rifle team at Southern Illinois University where he earned B.S. and M.A. degrees. After completing a doctoral degree at the University of Illinois, he spent 32 years as a faculty member and administrator at Illinois State University from which he is currently Emeritus Professor of Chemistry.

Since Jim retired, he and his wife have spent a lot of time traveling and doing photography. He has also spent a great deal of time writing which has resulted in books published on chemical kinetics, quantum mechanics, and inorganic chemistry, a book coauthored with his wife, Kathleen. Jim has also written extensively on the shooting sports and authored the books American Air Rifles (Krause Publications, 2002) and CO2 Pistols & Rifles (Krause Publications, 2003). He is also the author of The Gun Digest Book of .22 Rimfire which is scheduled for release by Krause Publications in August 2005. Jim has also had a large number of articles published in periodicals such as Gun World, Gun List, The Varmint Hunter, Predator Xtreme, The Backwoodsman, and The Illinois Shooter. He also wrote extensively for the now discontinued Airgun Illustrated and U.S. Airgun magazines.
