Hunter Wins Category With A Benjamin

Lester Chase Jr. was named Compressed Airgun Hunter of the Year for 2013-2014 by Texas-based Trophy Game Records of the World. The category was introduced after professional hunter Ian Harford spent time with the organization showing the capabilities of the Benjamin Rogue .357 in 2012 and officially added for the 2013-14 scoring season.

Chase earned the title with new TGR airgun records for Scimitar Horned Oryx, Catalina Goat, Mouflon buckleRam, Zebu and African Blackbuck, all shot with the Rogue. He topped off the successful season with 410″ elk that ranked #2 in TGR across all categories. All this with a .357 caliber air rifle from Benjamin!

Les “Bear” Chase of Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire has been a long time outdoor sportsman enjoying hunting and fishing his entire life. He has taken quality game using archery, crossbow, muzzle loader, pistol, and rifle. Additionally, Les has been a target competitor in indoor and outdoor target archery, as well as 3D competitions. He has made appearances in NH and National Senior Games, Vegas World Archery Festival, IBO World Championships, along with various competitions throughout New England. Always competitive and testing his limits, he never expected the opportunity to be on the forward edge of hunting with a rapidly developing class of weapon, the Compressed Air Rifle.

While being mindful of the effectiveness of this new class of weapon and the rapid technological advances, Les plans to expand his hunting opportunities to include animals that many considered virtually impossible. Who would have thought that the youngster target shooting an air rifle in the backyard, now can hunt such animals, with the power of the modern air rifle.
