Steel Breech Kit is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 20.Rated 5 out of 5 by hugh from Crosman Steel Breech most important upgrade This steel breech kit is in my opinion the single most important upgrade you can install on your Crosman. This breech will enable you to install optics on a rock solid base. I am referring to the 3/8 dovetail machined into the top of the breech. It will also give you a superior mounting base for a longer steel barrel. I prefer the long breech when installing a longer barrel. There are several you tube videos that will teach you how to install your new breech. Crosman includes a shorter screw to replace the original screw that goes through your rear sight. It is important that you use this screw so you breech will operate smoothly.Date published: 2017-10-17Rated 5 out of 5 by Motorhead from An absolute must have! This upgrade not only allows for mounting a dovetail, there are a number of other ways to accomplish this, it is also the single largest improvement you can make. Why they aren't standard I can only guess at but I'm fairly sure it has to do with cost and keeping it down. The breach is solid as a rock when installed correctly and allows for better accuracy from barrel stabilization, coupled with an aftermarket barrel band, such as the 2289 Backpacker's or one of the pricier brass or stainless versions. Add to this some NOS old school 1322 barrel trim spacer trim and you have a very solidly mounted barrel. I won't go into the numerous other up grades except to mention extended probe bolts. None of this is possible without this one simple upgrade and everything else mentioned here is quick and simple with huge gains in CONSISTENT accuracy!Date published: 2017-07-18Rated 5 out of 5 by SlowHand from Excellent 1st Upgrade I recently rediscovered air guns because of my grandson. i bought a Crosman 2240 to shoot with him while he was busy plinking cans. Since then I have discovered a huge amount of upgrades for the 2240 so I'm converting mine to a carbine complete with scope. If you're wanting to upgrade a 2240, the steel breech is a good place to start. It adds weight to the gun, and provides much needed rails to add a scope or red dot to. You do lose the original back iron sights but they're not needed if you're adding a scope. If you do decide to add iron rear sights, be aware they are costly.Date published: 2017-12-18Rated 4 out of 5 by mwsalter from Good product While the breech kit was of good quality, the instructions suck. They were small print, and not for the 1322. I recommend finding the YouTube video for more detailed installation instructions.Date published: 2017-06-15Rated 5 out of 5 by Jjchvl from Great upgrade The steel breech is pretty much a mandatory upgrade for anyone who takes their pellet gun hobby even sort of seriously. It makes a world of difference in several functional ways which others have listed better than I could. Buying directly from Crosman also saved me money from all the scalpers who buy Crosman out of these and then stick em on Amazon or Ebay for $15-$20 more. If you see these breech kits in stock here on Crosman Web site then I'd advise you to grab one before the scalpers buy Crosman out of them again. I will also add my opinion that Crosman should include the steel breech on the pistols the breech fits(and use to do so, I believe). It's too bad that you have to buy an "add on" just to reach a quality level that use to be standard.Date published: 2017-09-22Rated 4 out of 5 by midnightair from want a scope? longer barrel? get this. If you're ready to start modifications to your 13xx, this is a good first purchase. I give it 4 stars because it should be a standard feature on the 13xx and I feel it costs a bit too much as an add on. If you are uncomfortable taking your gun apart then stick with the plastic breech. You really don't "need" this unless you are getting on that upgrade train!!!!!!!!!!!Date published: 2017-06-06Rated 4 out of 5 by EricB from Nice but assembly a little tricky Glad to get the steel breech but one should know two things before ordering. First the original sight will not work so one has to use one of the better sights crossman sells (I had one on a .177 that I swapped over—a great improvement btw). Second, fitting the barrel back with the transfer port held properly is a little tricky and not explained at all in the instructions. No doubt there is a YouTube video to help but I had to do it wrong once and then get it right. With those two qualifications it’s a very desirable upgrade.Date published: 2018-01-08Rated 5 out of 5 by Ryan from Seems well made, improved accuracy Been using for about 3 weeks now, easy to install and made my groups much smaller, what's not to like? Just imagine all the possibilities if Crosman listed all their custom parts individually for sale on their website.Date published: 2017-07-21
